Mechanics of sea waves
This is a poster I made as a personal project while studying the book "Designing Programmes" by Karl Gerstner. In particular, I used one of the systems developed by Gerstner, called "The Tangential Eccentric" created in 1957 and suitable for multiple purposes.

structure
I reconstructed the geometric composition of 'The Tangential Eccentric' as an exercise, and then tried to derive forms that were, by the very nature of the system, somewhere between abstract and figurative. Finally, I tried to give a figurative form to one of the innumerable configurations that can be derived from this system. Karl Gerstner's mechanical form somehow has an almost natural force, comparable to the disruptive force of a wave.
composition
For the composition of the poster, I tried to keep a strongly linear and geometric structure as a point of reference. The element of the circle and rotations with progressive centres occupies the centre of the composition, albeit a centre that is constantly moving. The textual part frames and encloses the meaning of the figure.
color
The chromatic component contextualises the environment to which the figurative form obtained from the geometric structure refers. However, I wanted the colour to never be invasive and to accompany without invading the geometric structure. The colour is totally flat, although the gradations of light and saturation juxtaposed consecutively create the effect of a gradient, which is however only an optical illusion.
